ELEMENTary Hip-Hop Skool

“4 Elements Strong!” – HHPJ

Can you name the 4 elements of Hip-Hop? WITHOUT USING THE INTERNET! No big deal if you can’t, Hip-Hop welcomes the new and encourages learning of all elements.  If Hip-Hop is lucky enough, one will embrace all elements and fall in love with one of them, becoming a specialist in urban societies oldest and most valuable of traditions.

Luckily in Tucson, you have a group of people dedicated to the three E’s… evolving, educating and embracing all. The ELEMENTary Hip-Hop Skool is dedicated to honing its craft and helping others in doing the same. Essentially it’s pretty simple, come show what you got, get unbiased support and watch your passion evolve! Not sure how much easier it could be?

Come to a Park-Jam and you’ll see that rapping, spoken-word, writing, graffiti, drawing, popping, locking, breaking, spinning tunes or any combination of these things are not just expected but encouraged. It’s a can’t-fail type of atmosphere which celebrates humanity and our individualism. A Hip Hop Park Jam Session is a throwback to the Old-School where the neighborhood would come together to jam and share in what’s current and developing.

As a “Skool” of Hip-Hop this group is geared towards outreach by promoting social awareness for its participants via Hip-Hop’s elements. A curriculum is currently being finalized and will feature 4 months of focus in a participants chosen element culminating in a showcase built as a block-party/park jam with an underlying focus on how they can give back to their community. The Skool has already done presentations in several local area schools and has more coming up this month and the months to follow so if you want them to come to your school, just give them a shout-out.

The HHPJ has hit it’s one year mark and will be continuing this Saturday at James C. Thomas Park off of 36th and Campbell. To get yourself involved show up. Seriously, It’s that simple. If you’d like to know more, or want to get them to do an assembly at your school, you can contact the crew via Email, Facebook, Webpage or the Hip Hop Park Jam event page.

p.s. the answer is DJ’ing, MC’ing, Graffiti and Breakdancing.
